have finally announced the official details of the Playstation 2, and it's great news! They told the world from a press conference in Tokyo, just before the Tokyo Games Show started, and straight away the news sent ripples through the Playstation pond all around the world.
The really good news is that Playstation 2 kicks the ass of Sega's Dreamcast and is another step down the road to having an all-in-one entertainment machine that can play games, movies and music at top quality. Using the very best in graphics, sound, video and computer power,  are promising that Playstation 2 will revolutionize home entertainment. And now we've seen the technical guff, we believe them. Playstation 2 will feature a system called "Emotion Synthesis", which requires the sort of computing power usually only found in scientific research labs. It means that games can now accurately recreate natural effects like wind and gravity, and even determine the way characters think, act and feel in a game. Just imagine what something like Final Fantasy would be like. Ooh, we've gone all funny just thinking about it! The line up of games is still secret, but we've heard that Duke Nukem has signed up for the new console and rumours abound that the next Oddworld game requires the sort of power that only Playstation 2 can provide. We're still eagerly awaiting the first photos of the finished console, and rest assured that we'll be updating you from now until the year 2000 on the development of this new Mega-Console!

1. Playstation 2 is backwards compatible! This means you can play all your old Playstation games on it!
2. Playstation 2 will play DVD! You can play blockbuster movies with crystal clear quality!
3. Playstation 2 will have more graphical power than the computers used for special effects in Hollywood!
4. Playstation 2 will have digital sound for pin sharp music and speech!
5. Playstation 2 will be on sale in Japan by March 2000. Expect it over here Autumn 2000!

What will the new Playstation be called?
Playstation2, PSX2 or Playstation2000?
This is what I think, The next Playstation will most likely be called PSX2 because Nintendo are calling their next computer Nintendo 2000, I don't think Playstation would want to be called the same as a computer like that. Yet I don't think the new Playstation would be called Playstation2 this is simply because Playstation2 sounds to much the same as the first one although Playstation will be the second best computer after the new Playstation2. Lets wait and see!
